Series 14415 contains a register which was used by Thames Warden's Court to record details of plans of mining claims which were borrowed from the court.
As the district of Shortland became known as Thames in 1876, it has been presumed that the Thames Magistrates Court was established on this date. Early references to this court are quoted as Shortland/Thames. In 1980 all Magistrates Courts were renamed District Courts. The Thames District Court acted as a registration office for births deaths and marriages until 1999.
