GENERAL


The Greymouth Courts had civil and criminal jurisdiction in the local area, with the administrative and recordkeeping staff being responsible for recording and discharging the duties of the Supreme/High Court, District Court, Magistrates Court and Wardens Court. The office began carrying out Magistrate's court, Warden's Court and District court functions in 1868. The Supreme Court opened its office in Greymouth in 1909.
