GENERAL

The Board was responsible for promotion and processing of New Zealand meat. Initially this included grading of export meat, storage, shipping, export licensing, quota management, market research, overseas promotion and a commitment to improving the quality of New Zealand meat.  Between 1948 and 1997 the Board controlled the sale, disposal and export of meat.  From 1997, the Board's primary functions were national and international promotion of New Zealand meat products and  research and development.
