This series consists of Civil Air Accident Files concerning the investigation into individual air accidents around New Zealand. Such investigations aim at determining the circumstances and causes of air accidents and incidents with a view to avoiding similar occurences in the future. The records in this series were originally part of the Air Department registered subject files system which also included administrative files concerning air accidents (such as 25/1/-, 25/2/- and 25/3/- files).
